Director of Volunteer Services - Volunteer Services

PeaceHealth is seeking a Director of Volunteer Services - Volunteer Services for a 1.0 full time equivalent Exempt position. This position will be working Day shift with shift durations of 8 Hours.

JOB SUMMARY

Supports the development of culture around building relationships, creating a compassionate, committed team within the hospital and creating a healing environment.  This individual is responsible for overall organization, operation, personnel and management of the Volunteer Department utilizing independent and collaborative judgment in decision–making, demonstrating leadership and problem solving.  

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Plans, organizes and directs department services for the use of volunteers.  Develops and recommends goals and objectives for the volunteer function, coordinating with department heads to develop services suitable to volunteers and useful to the hospital and continuing the vital connection with community partners.  

2. Using collected data; implements policies, procedures, work guidelines and performance standards to assure the efficient and effective operation of the department in compliance with hospital standards and federal, state and local laws.

3. Supervises Volunteer Services staff in evaluating, monitoring, improving, and renewing all volunteer units. 

4. Develops and recommends department operating budget with provisions for expenditures and supplies.  Ensure that department operates within allocated funds.

5. Evaluates changing trends in the demographic background and interests of individuals who volunteer and develop programs to take advantage or react to such changes.  

6. Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study required. Extensive experience in a management position in a related field or situation may be substituted for formal education.

 

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

  • Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services (CAVS) preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Minimum of five years management experience in a Volunteer Services, Public Relations, or Human Resources in a healthcare setting, or related field preferred.

 

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Supervisory, leadership, problem solving, decision making, time management, financial & budgetary 
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Must be able to deal with a multitude of tasks/projects/programs in short time frames.

 

 

ST.JOSEPH PHYSICAL/COGNATIVE REQUIREMENTS

  • Work requires fairly light physical exertion up to 33% of the time.
  • Ability to lift objects weighining 50 lbs or less.
  • Work may require ocassional exposure to minor cold and heat in an uncontrolled outside environment, but is mostly performed under normal working condistionwith adquate lighting and ventilation
  • Job duties ocassionally require the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail (less thatn 34% of work time).
