Manager Business/Supply Chain - Surgical Services

PeaceHealth is seeking a Manager Business/Supply Chain - Surgical Services for a 1.0 full time equivalent Exempt position. This position will be working Day shift with shift durations of 8 Hours.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for coordinating business strategies while promoting efficient resource utilization; facilitating supply chain management and charge capture for Surgical Services; working with departments to achieve cost optimization and consolidation of supplies; provide leadership in evaluating new opportunities and/or improving existing operations.  Responsible for managing the Inventory and Charge Capture Teams for surgical services

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Manages Inventory Control Clerks, who are responsible for ordering all supplies and managing inventory for Surgical Services Division and the Charge Entry Team who are responsible for accurate charge capture for procedures and supplies used in Surgical Services Division. This includes participating in the hiring and firing processes; performance assessments; coaching and mentoring.
  2. Accountable for accurate patient charge process to assure full compliance and development of new procedure charges
  3. Analyzes supply utilization to determine optimal efficiencies and works with clinical staff, physicians, and Surgery leadership to identify savings and develop strategies for improvement.  Implement inventory management methods to improve financial performance. 
  4. Coordinates implementation and/or negotiation of multiple contracts as requested by Surgical Services Directors.  Oversees the negotiations and authorizing of all agreements and contracts for the acquisition of materials.   Works with Materials Management and vendors to assure compliance with policies and contract pricing. Organizes and manage a process for large-scale supply standardization and consolidation of supply volume as measured by reductions in stock and PAR levels.

  6. Evaluates equipment needs of surgical services departments.  Works with Finance to analyze lease versus purchase of major equipment.
  7. Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of appropriate Information Systems needed for all aspects of the department operation.
  8. In conjunction with the Surgical Services Directors and Finance, prepares and oversees all aspects of the operating and capital budgets within Surgical Services.
  9. Regularly evaluate the systems of internal controls related to all financial and business reporting systems.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, Nursing, or applicable business related field required. 
  • MBA preferred.         

 

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:         

  • Significant experience in OR operations, supply management, and financial analysis in healthcare required. 
  • Marketing and systems experience preferred. 
  • Demonstrated experience in developing business models, cost reduction and containment, and revenue enhancement.
  • Minimum of two years previous leadership experience required.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent group facilitation skills
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and ability to make objective assessments
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office applications and other applicable clinical/materials management software
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Strong conflict resolution skills

 

RIVERBEND PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work requires light physical exertion up to 33% of the time.           
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 25 lbs. or less.          
  • Work is performed under normal working conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation.
  • Job duties frequently require intense concentration and attention to detail (34-65% of work time).
