Manager of Informatics

PeaceHealth is seeking a Manager of Informatics for a 1.0 full time equivalent Exempt position. This position will be working Day shift with shift durations of 8 Hours.

Manages the coordination of the activities of a business unit or department with responsibility for results including costs, methods, and staffing.  Responsible for operational performance, quality, service

environment and regulatory compliance.  Oversees the education, planning, development,

design, implementation and ongoing evaluation of Informatics (CareConnect) for a network. Plans and manages priorities, provides assistance and mentoring, oversees staff schedule, monitors

quality of work and manages caregiver performance.  Ensures that team and departmental goals are achieved, timelines met and service excellence provided in all aspects of work. Serves as a clinical

liaison expert for all portions of the EHR (electronic health record) that impact clinical processes.

Develops the budget, policies, procedures, staffing decisions and department goals.  Monitors the

overall services, developing quality and performance indicators, gathering data for analysis and ensures continuous improvement to optimize services and stewardship of resources.  




1. Manages and provides leadership and direction for an informatics team. Links mission into day-to-day work, focuses on meeting organization/departmental targets, recommend or develop plans for improvement, and assure regulatory compliance.

2. Selects staff, monitors and evaluates performance and accountability of staff.  Manages performance; evaluates competence and initiate performance improvement plans to develop staff, provides meaningful and constructive feedback.

3. Works within the network with the Director, Medical Informatics and TSP Director as a triad to provide Informatics and TSP guidance and support to the geographic assignment.  Maintains systemness and standardized thinking and implementation while serving local hospital/clinic/caregiver customers.

4. Works with local facility leadership to assist in the development of policies, procedures, and enhancements to the delivery of services, and operations of the department. Identifies opportunities to replace redundant or manual processes with automation.

5. Develops plans and strategies for achieving broad acceptance and ongoing use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) across all venues by leading teams in planning, design and implementation to ensure that the application design and build meets the needs of the staff for appropriate data capture and workflow process and help ensure operational adoption.

6. Promotes an evidence-based practice model for systems throughout the organization; assisting staff in build and maintenance. Serves as a resource and consultant to various clinical disciplines. 

7. Interprets and conveys information establishes and communications between all teams of caregivers, vendors, etc.

8. Participates and coordinates informaticist attendance and involvement in facility specific DMS huddles. 

9. Performs other duties as required or assigned.





  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or business discipline required.



  • At least 5 years of healthcare/clinical information systems experience with at least one year of Informatics experience required. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience required.
  • Experience supporting operations in an electronic healthcare environment or may have equivalent combination of education and/or experience with knowledge and understanding of related protocols, hardware documentation and systems applications is preferred.
  • Epic experience preferred.



  • CPHIMS, ANIA or other informatics certification preferred.
  • For Clinical Roles:  Licensure/Certification/Registration to practice in trained clinical area as required by State preferred.



  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to speak and write clearly and report out empirical data in an accurate and organized manner.
  • Ability to deliver financial results for areas of accountability.
  • Strong analysis/problem solving and critical thinking; excellent computer skills with and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PPT).
  • Strong leadership, facilitation and teaching skills.
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to work independently prioritize essential tasks and meet deadlines.
