PeaceHealth is seeking a Director of Clinical Engineering for a 1.0 full time equivalent Exempt position. This position will be working Day shift with shift durations of 8 Hours.

JOB SUMMARY
Directs, controls and is accountable for Clinical Engineering across PeaceHealth.  Develops long and short term business strategies, operational plans and oversees implementation.  Manages the design, structure, development and planning issues within scope of direction.  Responsible for quality, service and regulatory compliance for areas of responsibility.Leads overall strategy, long-term planning, integration, and operations of Clinical Enginering (biomedical equipment) in support of the clinical, financial, and strategic objectives. Maximizes uptime and availability of selected PeaceHealth assets by minimizing service costs, minimizing inventory costs and disposing of or selling PeaceHealth assets at most economical point in the lifecycle.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Develops and implements standardized biomedical equipment repair program throughout all PeaceHealth hospitals and medical groups.
* Develops and implements PeaceHealth-wide policies regarding repair and maintenance of the assets to balance cost versus uptime, availability and safety for operational readiness, in-house biomedical engineering proficiency standardsand for evaluation of cost trade-offs between using new parts, OEM parts, rebuilt, aftermarket etc. Manitain and monitor compliance with, and approve any exceptions to, the policies. 
* Establishs and constantly adjusts the appropriate mix of insourced and outsourced repair and maintenance resources to optimize and balance asset uptime and cost management.
* Optimizes time to dispose of an asset, given market conditions and maintenance needs by working with PeaceHealth managers to identify and prepare for upcoming costly repairs and service.
* Manages PeaceHealth-wide service asset inventory, histories and costs.
* Manages biomedical instrumentation department budget; develop and manage repair and maintenance budgets, including partsfor PeaceHealth. 
* Manages quantity of spare and repair parts inventory. Works with vendors to establish VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) programs where appropriate, and leadsefforts to purge excess/obsolete inventory.
* Acts as central point of contact for sharing of information and best practices regarding medical equipment selection, acquisition service, repair, and maintenance and disposal and sale.  Maintains active list of prioritized service providers and practices by medical equipment class and category.
* Perform other duties as required or assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
Master’s Degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:  

-Minimum of seven years experience in senior asset/equipment service engineering roles within Healthcare or other industry, such as clinical equipment manufacturers, 

pharmaceutical, manufacturing company with highly complex engineering and testing equipment is required.
-Minimum five years in management required.
-Experience in healthcare in a large hospital facility or a system that has insourced clinical engineering or biomed services or was the biomed manager/director for an outsourced service provider to hospitals is preferred.
-Experience creating and implementing complex asset management strategies and programs for hospitals, systems or corporations is preferred.
 
OTHER SKILLS:  

-In-depth knowledge and understanding of the repair practices, vendors and components of medical technology equipment, medical equipment lifecycle costs and of used medical equipment prices and trends
-Ability to manage and influence biomedical instrumentation manager and technicians
-Excellent negotiating skills.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interface persuasively with all levels of the organization.
-Ability to foster quality internal and external relationships.
-Ability to effectively manage and lead in a matrix environment and in accordance with PeaceHealth’s leadership model.
-Ability to deliver financial results for areas of accountability.
