Litigation Paralegal

PeaceHealth is seeking a Litigation Paralegal for a 1.0 full time equivalent Exempt position. This position will be working Day shift with shift durations of 8 Hours.

Performs paralegal duties in civil litigation associated with tort claims, breach of contract, and equitable claims for employment claw, personal injury, battery, negligence, defamation, fraud, professional liability, health law, and medical malpractice.  Professional liability and medical malpractice defense will be the primary areas of work focus.

1.    Completes legal research as request by internal and external customers, including internet and other forms of computerized research.
2.    Prepares, organizes and files documents.
3.    Conducts research on document searches and other factual research.
4.    Coordinates work with key stakeholders as appropriate.
5.    Develops factual and clinical timelines of cases.
6.    Prepares witness and matter materials for case preparation.
7.    Organizes relevant documents for attorney review and case preparation.
8.    Prepares for and attends depositions.
9.    Performs other duties as assigned. 


EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree as an RN or other healthcare related field and completion of an accredited paralegal training program or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training and experience.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: Minimum of five years of practice as an RN and/or paralegal with specialized healthcare litigation experience.


 •    Proficient in MS Office applications, with an emphasis in Word, Excel and Access databases.
•    Experience with online information services and retrieval.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•    Strong organizational and analytical skills.
•    Detail oriented.
•    Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and display flexibility in a fast paced and changing work environment.
•    Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.
