Program Manager Trauma

PeaceHealth is seeking a Program Manager Trauma for a 1.0 full time equivalent Exempt position. This position will be working Day shift with shift durations of 8 Hours.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the organization of hospital systems necessary to support our multidisciplinary approach to care of the trauma patient.  This position assumes day-to-day responsibility for the process of care and performance improvement activities of the trauma patients.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. In conjunction with clinical care teams, coordinate management across the continuum of trauma care. Plan and implement clinical protocols and practice guidelines, monitor care of hospitalized patients, and serve as a resource for clinical practice and assistance to their families and visitors.

2. Monitor clinical processes, outcomes and system issues related to quality of care, develop quality filters, audits and concurrent case reviews, identify trends and sentinel events. 

3. Provide management oversight to the Trauma Registry activities, in collaboration with Center for Healthcare Improvement (CHI), including coding and scoring accuracy and developing processes for validation.  Work with CHI to design reports, answer queries, and help to facilitate quality initiatives.  Continue to develop the “Outcomes Module” component of the trauma registry for trauma performance improvement tracking

4. In collaboration with the Trauma Program Medical Director, Regional Administrative Director of Emergency Services, and Emergency Department Manager oversee the operational personnel, which includes the trauma registry staff and the service-specific trauma nurses.  Serve as a liaison to administration and represent the trauma program on various internal (hospital) and external (local, regional, state, national) meetings to enhance and foster optimal trauma care management.

5. Serve as both an internal and external resource to hospital staff as well as EMS providers.

6. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION:     

  • BSN required.

 

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:              

  • Three years nursing experience in direct care of trauma patients in a critical care setting

 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION              

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state in which nurse will be practicing required.
  • Specialty certification preferred.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at date of hire.
  • ACLS, ATLS, ENPC, and TNCC required.

 

OTHER SKILLS:  

  • Ability to analyze complex data from medical records and enter it into 'trauma registry tool' and databases
  • Strong problem solving, decision making and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in the use of computers including MS Office applications
  • Financial and budgetary experience

 

REGIONAL/LOCATION SPECIFIC NOTES:

Selects, trains and manages assigned staff.  Responsible for financial management of resources and budgets related to assigned areas as well as financial reporting
