Senior Accountant - Accounting Services

PeaceHealth is seeking a Senior Accountant - Accounting Services for a 1.0 full time equivalent Exempt position. This position will be working Day shift with shift durations of 8 Hours.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for wide range of accounting work requiring critical thinking, knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, knowledge of tax laws, and ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment with many deadlines.  May also include work with system implementations, audit, reporting needs.  The Senior Accountant performs planning and coordination of complex accounting activities.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Reviews journal entries and reconciliation files for standard format and accuracy.  Performs complex month-end and year-end processing calculations.  Performs high-level accounting assignments.  Assignments may include audit work, tax work, software projects, process improvement and efficiency work, or other assignments as needed.  Produces and analyzes financial statements and prepares narratives about financial statements results.
  2. Assists in systems and job training of staff.
  3. Works to increase software functionality and efficiencies in process and standardization.
  4. Assists customers in problem solving and resolution.
  5. Works with accounting staff and other departments as needed on system-related issues, testing and implementations. 
  6. Provides products and services to meet the needs and requirements of internal and external customers.
  7. Documents processes for all general ledger functions and other accounting functions as needed and directed by Accounting leadership. 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field required.
  • Master’s Degree is preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in accounting or financial auditing.
  • Experience in healthcare preferred.
  • Implementation project experience is preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Current CPA license

SYSTEM PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work requires fairly light physical exertion from up to 65% of the time.    
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 30 lbs. or less.          
  • Work is performed under normal working conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation.
  • Job duties frequently require intense concentration and attention to detail (up to 65% of work time).
