Supervisor of Data Warehouse

PeaceHealth is seeking a Supervisor of Data Warehouse for a 1.0 full time equivalent Exempt position. This position will be working Day shift with shift durations of 8 Hours.

JOB SUMMARY

Supervises the day-to-day operations of the Enterprise Data Repository (EDR) team.  Mentors and motivates the technical team to achieve excellence in the areas of customer service, system performance, and productivity.  Responsible for monitoring the overall project work, assignments and resourcing. Provides performance management for the team. Ensures the priorities of the organization are achieved through planning, leadership, communication, project coordination, and building and enabling a highly effective team.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Links mission into day-to-day work, focuses on meeting organization/departmental targets, monitors budget variances and recommend or develop plans for improvement, assure regulatory compliance.

2. Supervises and recommends selection of technical staff, monitors and evaluates performance and accountability of staff.  Evaluates competence and initiate performance improvement plans to develop staff, provide meaningful and constructive feedback.  Assists with hiring, training, mentoring, authorizing time off requests, and performance management.

3. Works with leadership to assist in the development of policies, procedures, and enhancements to the delivery of services, and operations of the department.

4. Reviews incidents and service requests to monitor service level trends, ensuring incidents are being resolved within service level objectives.  Identifies opportunities for service improvement and implements changes.  Ensures accuracy of incident and service request data.

5. Collaborates with other PeaceHealth management team members to resolve operations issues and ensures strategic and quality goals are met; represents TSP and EDR accurately and effectively at all levels of the organization; enhances personal expertise to stay current regarding services, trends and changes in technology.

6. Participates as needed in implementations and recommends improvements to the overall approach to the warehouse life cycle and tool administration.  Performs routine and customary operational and monitoring activities to ensure the data warehouse environment is stable and capable of meeting ongoing business needs and provides leadership for team members on standard processes and procedures that promotes consistent teamwork.

7. Participates as an expert advisor as needed for customers in Business Intelligence including tools and warehousing.

8. Performs special projects as requested.

9. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:     

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related, relevant field.  Equivalent experience may substitute for degree.

 

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:              

  • Minimum of 5 years related warehousing development experience
  • Previous leadership training and experience preferred.
  • Epic/Clarity experience preferred.
  • Epic's Caboodle Data Warehouse (CDW), SSIS and Informatica experience strongly preferred.
  • Dimensional modeling experience preferred.

 

OTHER SKILLS:  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and display flexibility in a fast paced and changing work environment.
  • Strong experience in database development, implementation and healthcare information systems development or implementation. 
  • Experience with industry common programming languages, tools, and concepts such as SQL, XML, Active Server Pages, HTML and ETL.
  • Strong experience with data warehousing, applying principles, techniques and/or with relational and object-oriented database and data structures.
  • Strong experience in design and implementation of data structures, in retrieval, access methods, database software and development of standards.
  • Knowledge of and experience with data modeling, logical and relational database design is strongly preferred.
