System Director Nursing Professional Practice

PeaceHealth is seeking a System Director Nursing Professional Practice for a 1.0 full time equivalent Exempt position. This position will be working Day shift with shift durations of Variable.

Provides leadership and oversight to the strategic development and implementation of processes to address and improve patient experience, development and execution of the organization’s pursuit of Magnet designation, facilitates and provides staff support for patient experience programs, services and initiatives.  Champions and manages the organizational change required in adopting evidenced based methodologies that embrace the shared decision making that is the foundation of Magnet designation. Develops long and short-term business strategies, operational plans and oversees implementation.  Establishes and directs all aspects of the ANCC Magnet application, site visit, designation, and re-designation process and interim monitoring reports; designs and implements organization-wide education on ANCC’s Magnet Recognition Program; Interdepartmental and interdisciplinary collaboration for magnet preparation; serves as an internal/external consultant; and ensures all organizational councils and associated workgroups incorporate Patient Experience into strategies and outcomes.



  1. Plans, organizes, develops and directs the human and material resources necessary to support compliance with standards defined by the American Nurses Association.
  2. Serves as primary liaison between the organization and the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program office. Facilitates necessary changes. Clarifies magnet-related issues and coordinates responses to ANCC requests.
  3. Directs the implementation of processes to ensure compliance with ANCC Magnet Recognition Program criteria. Guides and develops the strategic plan related to magnet designation and re-designation.
  4. Facilitates nursing leadership understanding and integration of ANCC standards into practice. Promotes departmental strategic planning that addresses implementing and showcasing the application of the model components. Leads the Magnet Steering Committee in coordinating efforts designed to identify evidence in support of each Model Components.
  5. Serves as the liaison between the organization and the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program office.  Oversees clarification of Magnet related issues and responses to ANCC requests.  Establishes and maintains public relations with requisite agencies.
  1. Oversees the development of magnet-related educational materials and presentations. Keeps leadership and staff abreast of the status of the magnet process. Oversees the development and maintenance of educational materials.
  2. Directs the composition, preparation, editing, publication, and submission of the magnet application and re-application documentation. Oversees organizational preparation for the site visit.
  3. Oversees the collection and maintenance of a minimum data set for nursing using the demographic data necessary for ANCC magnet documentation submission.
  4. Ensures interim reporting required by the Magnet Program Office is completed annually and semi-annually.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.




  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.



  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience in nursing management required.
  • A solid knowledge and understanding of the Magnet credentialing process and prior work experience at a Magnet facility is required
  • Experience in facilitating a successful ANCC application, documentation and site visit is desired.



  • Clinical licensure in the state



  • Ability to deliver financial results for areas of accountability.
  • Proven skills in team facilitation, project implementation, effective data interpretation, customer relations 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a highly matrixed and disbursed organization



  • Work requires fairly light physical exertion from up to 65% of the time.    
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 30 lbs. or less.          
  • Work is performed under normal working conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation.        
  • Job duties frequently require intense concentration and attention to detail (up to 65% of work time).
