System VP Digital Operations

PeaceHealth is seeking a System VP Digital Operations for a 1.0 full time equivalent Exempt position. This position will be working Day shift with shift durations of Variable.

Responsible for leading digital health strategies, initiatives & programs that support operational goals and integration across PeaceHealth. Partners with operational and clinical leads to plan and execute high impact digital health, telemedicine and mobile strategies, processes and education around system-wide virtual care programs with a focus on convenience, experience, patient access and digital consumer channels. Ensures the success of the digital health, telemedicine and mobile programs by serving as a thought leader and operations partner that establishes key metrics to develop, maintain, improve and measure these programs success in alignment with operational objectives.  Identifies and helps to mitigate risks, issues and ensures that results are achieved. This includes developing and implementing program specific strategic plans that support operations while driving quality and low-cost outcomes and growing assigned clinical departments and services to achieve desired financial performance in collaboration with network acute and ambulatory leaders. Responsible for leading the long-term development and success of PeaceHealth digital health, telemedicine and mobile programs and is a champion of change, continuously identifying, developing, and implementing methods to improve the efficiency, safety, financial performance, and quality of the services provided to patients, family members, and referring physicians.



  1. Oversees systemwide business operations for digital health, telemedicine and mobile programs while partnering with network operational leaders to develop, lead, and implementing strategies in the emerging markets that encompass eHealth. Assimilates operational strategies and objectives into PeaceHealth’s digital strategies with a focus to develop and create strategic decision frameworks for short and long-range planning, future investments. Provides overall management support for operational and clinical leads, including oversight of TSP project management.
  2. Develops strategic positions to extend the digital reach of the organization to care for patients through programs and processes including: Telehealth & virtual care, Tele-ICU, Mobile Health, Remote monitoring, Asynchronous and synchronous telemedicine services. Monitors trends in the digital health market and reimbursements at the state and national level. Creates actionable insights through analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data, building recommendations that directly tie to business objectives. Helps point the way to invest in new technologies and services that support the long-term vision of digital innovation with a focus on consumer experience, convenience, access and digital entry channels.
  3. Creates and serves on Digital Health and Telemedicine governance committees and creates content for operational, clinical, and digital health governance decision making. Serves as single point of contact for Telemedicine, both institutionally and publicly. Oversees all clinical, technical, business, support and regulatory activities around telehealth programs.
  4. Stays abreast of changing market conditions, competitors and new technologies that support and drive alignment with business goals that focus on consumer convenience, experience, access and digital channels. Scans the virtual health landscape for innovative solutions, new applications of virtual health, preferred vendors and opportunities for partnerships that support PeaceHealth’s operational and clinical objectives.
  5. Aligns billing structure with Finance and Revenue Cycle Departments. Directs the P&L of digital and telehealth functional areas. Drafts and socializes policies for payment methodology, operational support, clinical workflows, service recovery, and performance metrics
  6. Provides metric tracking (clinic care, financial, patient experience, clinician experience, service issues. Measures key performance indicators associated with telehealth and implements changes to optimize system performance using the latest performance improvement methodologies.
  7. Partners with Technology Solution Partners (TSP) to develop technical requirements for product launch and assist in completion of Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Leads all initial accreditation and reaccreditation processes. Prepares accreditation applications and all supporting documentation.
  8. Collaborates with key operational and system stakeholders to execute marketing plans that focus on consumer experience, convenience, access and digital channels.
  9. Develops and mentors the management team and staff; creates a participative management culture; provides guidance to the management team; designs and coordinates management team training programs; assists and supports the management team in performing their duties and responsibilities.
  10. Develops a value driven organizational culture promoting positive, highly engaged, collaborative relationships among the various participants, network and system leadership, medical staff, partners, and payers aligned on a standard approach to ambulatory service/care excellence.
  11. Collaborates with operations, clinical services and Technology Solution Partners (TSP) related to EMR structure, functionality, optimization and how those components translate and impact the consumer experience.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.




  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required.
  • Master’s Degree required or a combination of education and professional experience that provides the caregiver with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the job.



  • Minimum of 10 years healthcare leadership experience required.
  • Significant experience in large complex healthcare systems with extensive operations and digital/telemedicine/telehealth experience required.
  • Experience with managing complex programs and projects, specifically with a focus on customer service, service excellence and patient experience activities.
  • Working knowledge of EPIC
  • Experience with proven positive outcomes regarding financial sustainability initiatives and demonstrated successful completion of quality improvement projects with desired outcomes.
  • Relationship management skills with physicians and senior operational leaders are expected



  • Board Certification in the American College of Healthcare Executives highly desired (FACHE)
  • EPIC telemedicine module certification is preferred



  • Business acumen and negotiating skills in a highly complex, matrixed environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, high integrity, and ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, understanding the needs of different audiences and stakeholders.

  • Work requires fairly light physical exertion from up to 65% of the time.         
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 30 lbs. or less.          
  • Work is performed under normal working conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation.     
  • Job duties frequently require intense concentration and attention to detail (up to 65% of work time).
