System VP Strategic Transformation

PeaceHealth is seeking a System VP Strategic Transformation for a 1.0 full time equivalent Exempt position. This position will be working Day shift with shift durations of Variable.

Serves as a trusted colleague and advisor to senior and system level executives, works closely with key system and operational leaders.  Ensures the strategic alignment of projects, business requirements, operational plans, and business development opportunities, while providing visible reporting on project status, portfolio tracking, financial implications, cultural transformation and overall performance. Provides expertise and guidance to Senior Leaders for new and established enterprise-wide initiatives.  Establishes structures and reporting mechanisms for organizational oversight and governance for new and established initiatives and business growth ventures.  Is a collaborative and influential leader who can facilitate teams and work with various system and operational services to maximize overall organizational, business ventures, and key transformational efforts.

Develops and oversees the overall organizational blueprint for portfolio management of significant organizational strategic priorities and new business ventures/partnerships to achieve performance excellence, cultural transformation and long-term viability.  Provides system leadership guidance and tools relative to prioritization and decision making for enterprise-wide strategies and cultural initiatives such as strategies related to expansion of current market and community health opportunities.  Assures oversight and cultural alignment of all organizational priorities and strategies to advance the mission, vision and strategies of PeaceHealth. 

Responsible for leading the strategic planning process and providing expertise to network and system leaders.  Develops the structures, systems and processes required for effective large-scale portfolio management, business integration, change management and delivery of strategic organizational priorities.  Builds strong relationships with internal and external key stakeholders, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team. 



  1. Leads the development and implementation of the structure, roles, and systems to accelerate cultural and strategic transformation through the integration of new initiatives, strategic priorities, partnerships and growth strategies. 
  2. Strategically advises on project priorities, options, risks, costs versus benefits, and impacts on other business processes and priorities.
  3. Establishes plans for new business/growth initiatives to assure effective implementation based on clear business goals, performance success measures, risks, value propositions, and cultural indicators. 
  4. Leads the strategic and operational planning process and ensures communication, implementation, and attainment of defined plans.  Ensures department strategic planning aligns with system strategic goals and objectives.
  5. Provides the senior leadership team with high level portfolio oversight reporting to identify conflicting priorities, resources, and timelines.  Facilitates and helps resolve competing organizational priorities.  Collaborates with senior leadership to define new strategic offerings, create business case to support offering, and ensure appropriate stakeholders are engaged.
  6. Manages sponsor expectations and collaborates with them in order to acquire any necessary information and direction on projects and deliverables.
  7. Educates leaders and teams regarding new organizational transformation strategies and strategic business integration-related work processes, critical success factors, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  8. Establishes clear structures, principles, reporting, monitoring, accountability measures, and success measures and systems. Responsible for superior quality of all outputs including presentations, content and education.
  9. Oversees and manages the development of health venture relationships and system portfolio of strategic relationships.  Actively participates in due diligence, implementation of approved mergers and acquisitions, affiliations, and partnership opportunities.
  10. Collaborates with key leaders and caregivers to nurture the cultural change process of transforming from an acute to ambulatory focused system using contemporary change methodology and tools.
  11. Builds the governance structures, organizational portfolio, planning tools and reports that can be replicated as standard work for future business development, integration and transformational efforts.
  12. Provides management and overall leadership of coordination and oversight of significant organizational strategic priorities as established by Senior Leadership and Governing Board, ensuring project strategies and initiatives are achieved.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.




  • Master’s degree in Business, Organizational Development, Healthcare Administration or related field required.


  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience with expertise in dynamics, drivers and market forces shaping healthcare and related fields.
  • Proven track record in strategic business transformation, innovation, strategic planning and consulting, and business development and growth.
  • Experience leading organization strategy and change management.
  • Leadership experience in large scale hospitals, clinics, medical groups, or health systems strongly preferred.
  • Leadership experience working with system and operational leadership teams, physicians, business partners, and other key stakeholders for strategic business integration activities required.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in leading cultural transformation work.
  • Experience in leading and implementing joint ventures, alliances, partnerships, mergers and acquisitions required.
  • Mission based healthcare experience in a leadership role, with knowledge and practical application of ethical discernment principles preferred.


  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Strong communicator in written and verbal communications, understanding the needs of different audiences and stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence and gain buy-in of key stakeholders through a collaborative approach.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills using current methodology to develop effective and efficient portfolio management for large scale organizational initiatives.
  • Understanding and experience working in a LEAN culture for continuous performance improvement.
  • Effective use of change process models to advance engagement and cultural integration.
  • Relationship centered leader who is influential and an effective communicator and facilitator.
  • Is a role model for the attributes of PeaceHealth’s Leadership Model, and commitment to performance excellence using LEAN methodology for continuous improvement.



  • Work requires fairly light physical exertion from up to 65% of the time.  
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 30 lbs. or less.      
  • Work is performed under normal working conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation.       
  • Job duties frequently require intense concentration and attention to detail (up to 65% of work time).
